I began painting at a young age; the ocean was my playground and I became intrigued by the ethereal qualities of light and atmosphere. Extensive traveling worldwide further inspired my vibrant, expressive paintings that represent my experiences here and abroad.
In my work with the landscape, I have explored light and atmosphere as subject matter. Seeking to free my imagination in the process in effect weaving my experience internally with the external reality seen through my eyes. Searching to uncover the beauty and power of nature I realized these shared human experiences are never fully comprehended, yet we continually seek to know more. The beauty of the earth and all its glorious nature cannot be depicted pictorially, but only represented in a poetic manner; like light, intangible yet present.
Nature, with it’s enduring and mysterious harmony and conflict, chaos and order, offers us a glimpse of the invisible. My paintings try to uncover the creative forces and arrive at imagery that embodies my innermost responses to the natural world around us. Transforming my experience into my work often results in shifting and exaggerating colors, there is a visual excitement that is reflective of eternity; the mysteries of life and nature unfolded.
I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Laguna College of Art and Design located in California and have studied art in over thirty countries around the world. Currently living seaside at Puako on the Big Island of Hawaii, I enjoy spending time with the woman of my dreams and our small dog, Roxy. Other interests include; surfing, fishing, films and studying classical art.
