The source of my inspiration is the wonderful expressions of beauty and elegance that Mother Nature reveals in the timbers I shape into furniture. The rich character of grains and texture influence my work more than anything. The power of these mostly endemic materials from salvaged trees becomes furniture in a process of emergent evolution. I strive to use strong and stable methods of joinery for the construction of my pieces. I also have developed veneering and laminating techniques that allow me to conserve the use of these valuable and scarce raw materials. From there I let the wood do most of the talking, though I have spent a lot more time playing with original designs the last few years. Although I am predominately a furniture maker, I do on occasion work on larger architectural projects.
