The National Endowment for the Arts states in their 2006 report, “Artists in the Workforce” that the State of Hawai‘i ranks #3 per capita of the 50 states with fine artists and craftspeople. According to their report, nearly 15 of every 10,000 residents is an artist. Given our involvement with this community, we are certain Hawai‘i Island has far more than 270 visual and fine artists. Our goals are to educate the world about the rich diversity of artists who call the Hawaii their home, support our community of creative entrepreneurs, and help promote Hawaii as an arts destination!

Island residents (and resident artists) are very aware of the buy local campaign. Through this website, we’re  sharing the importance of buying from local artists and makers while also creating a resource to find local artists. When you purchase something made locally, you are directly touching lives in our community. The world is becoming more and more aware of buy local and has a growing desire to purchase things that have meaning and a story. Artists and makers provide those products. This website will allow for an ongoing network of connectivity between artists, makers, and you.Want to get involved? Help us spread the word about this opportunity to all your artist friends!
